UP42 is changing the way geospatial data is accessed and analyzed. Our developer platform and marketplace bring together multiple sources of data such as satellite imagery, weather data, and more—with algorithms to identify objects, detect change, and find patterns. Industry leaders use UP42 to inform business decisions and build scalable customer solutions.
We are looking for an experienced Technical Writer (m/f/x) to join our motivated team in Berlin.
As a Technical Writer you will drive strategic content initiatives and work directly on creating, planning and improving technical documentation.
In the first 6 months, you will focus on becoming a subject matter expert on the UP42 platform, help set the strategy for the Documentation Hub, scale the internal reviewer framework and cooperate with the product team to ensure alignment with the roadmap and feature release schedules. The key to success in this role is ability to quickly understand the UP42 product, summarize complex technical processes into simple and clear user guides, strong writing skills and self-starter attitude. Your contributions will drive product adoption and will directly impact the company’s progress towards growth and user engagement.
About the Role:
Manage and drive the strategy for existing product documentation
Build, optimize and manage lifecycle of technical documentation
Create intuitive and effective step-by-step developer guides, reference manuals, code recipes, general articles and FAQs for our UP42 products and services
Review, proofread and edit content written by others (joint activity with the product documentation specialist and other CS team members)
Analyze how the company’s audience is using support documentation in order to quantify opportunities for customer improvement
Test the product to ensure accuracy and consistency with the documentation
Job requirements
About you:
Proven Track Record of skills and expertise in writing product and service related technical documentation
Experience in version control tools is a plus, since the team updates content using Git
Familiarity with APIs and bash scripting
Experience in creating content using Markdown, reStructuredText or similar markup languages
Strong ability to write simple to complex code examples in Python or similar programming languages
Skills and technical expertise to explain complex specifications of satellite images (e.g. physical units, data processing pipeline) or sensor engineering principles
Knowledge or background in geospatial science (remote sensing, GIS, GPS) is a plus
Excellent English writing skills (at least C2 level)
